Guide to Buying a Nol Card in Dubai: How to activate it, where to get it, and how much are the Fares

Nol card : The metro nol card is a smart card used in all metro stations across the UAE. You need a valid ID and a card to enter any metro station.

There are 4 different types of cards; if you want to know how to use the metro nol card, keep reading.

1. Nol Red Card

Red tickets are disposable paper cards that can be bought for as low as Dh2. This card is ideal for one-time use. It is important to remember that you can only use one mode of transportation with this ticket – the bus, metro, or tram.
You can use it for either 90 days or 10 trips.
To apply for a Red Ticket, you don’t need any documentation.

2. Nol Silver Card

The silver card is valid for five years with a one-time payment of Dh25. To apply for a Silver Card, you don’t need to submit any documents.
Silver Nol cards can be used for public transport services by RTA including. They can also be used to purchase groceries and pay for parking at RTA-affiliated outlets that accept Nol card payments.

3. Nol Blue Card

This card is personal and requires activation. It is linked to your Emirates ID. At the Metro ticket office, you will need to present your photograph and Emirates ID and pay Dh70. The RTA website allows you to apply for the card Also.

You will need the Nol Blue card to be eligible for concessions on public transport if you are a senior citizen or a person of determination.

4. Nol Gold Card

Gold Card holders have access to the Gold Class cabins on Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram and Dubai Tram. The card costs Dh25, with Dh19 redeemable for services. You can use it on all transportation services and other payments, such as the Nol Silver Card, for up to five years.
You don’t need to submit any documents to apply for the Gold Card.

The Nol card allows you to easily access the RTA’s public transport services. RTA’s pricing system integrates the Metro, bus and tram rides. It only considers how far you have travelled during a trip regardless of whether you used any mode.
The number of ‘zones’ that you have crossed determines the price. RTA has split its public transport network into seven zones. You could change from a Metro trip to a bus and then to a tram, and if you’re in the same zone, it will be treated as one trip. You should ensure that the trip takes less than 30 minutes. All trips beyond 30 minutes will be charged separately, even if they are within the same area.

Your Nol card can purchase groceries at a supermarket or a burger from a fast-food restaurant. RTA has partnered with many restaurants, pharmacies, fuel stations, and government departments to enable users to use their Nol cards as debit cards. You can also make electronic payments, which are taken from your e-purse.

Depending upon the card you choose, this will determine how much you could be charged to use public transport.

Two zones – Dh5-Dh10

Three or Four Zone – Dh7.5 – Dh10

For seniors, children, those with determination, and students under age five, you can travel completely free.
